What's Your Dominant Eye?

Ocular dominance, sometimes called eye dominance, is the tendency to prefer visual input from one eye to the other. In normal binocular vision there is an effect of parallax, and therefore the dominant eye is the one that is primarily relied on for precise positional information. This may be especially important in sports which require aim, such as archery, darts or shooting sports.

It is somewhat analogous to the laterality of right or left handedness, however the side of the dominant eye and the dominant hand do not always match. That's correct because I am left eye dominant but ambidextrous (the ability to use both my hands and feet with equal ease or facility).

How Secure Is Your Password?

Choosing the right password is something that many people find difficult. There are so many things that require passwords these days that remembering them all can be a real problem. Perhaps because of this a lot of people choose their passwords very badly.

To know whether your password is secure, type it in and find out how long it would take for someone with a desktop PC to crack your password. The site claims no data is stored or transferred anywhere but if you're not sure, don't give away your password.

Technology Quiz

There is a Twilight Zone episode where a businessman makes a pact with the Devil, which allows him to go back in time so that he can capitalize off of his knowledge about the future. It turns out though that the businessman’s knowledge about the future is all superficial and thus he is unable to jump start any technological advancements by traveling back in time. This would likely be the plight of most contemporary humans if they were sent back in time. While we rely greatly on technology, most of us don’t know much about how it actually works and where the materials to make it come from.

If you were to travel 2000 years into the past, how useful would you be in jumpstarting technological advancements? This 10 question quiz will help you figure out your technological usefulness. If you do poorly on the quiz, as most people likely will, then just let that inspire you to study up more on how things work and where raw materials come from.

Missing Dollar Puzzle

This one has been around forever, at least since I was a kid. The internet just makes it easier to spread around.

Three men go into a motel. The desk clerk said the room was $30, so each man paid $10 and went to the room. A while later, the desk clerk realized the room was only $25, so he sent the bellboy to the three guys' room with $5. On the way, the bellboy couldn't figure out how to split $5 evenly between three men, so he gave each man $1 and kept the other $2 for himself.

This meant that the 3 men each paid $9 for the room, which is a total of $27. Add to that the $2 the bellboy kept and the total is $29. Where is the other dollar?

If you find yourself stumped, Snopes has the explanation.

Audio Test

Train Horns

Created by Train Horns

Can you hear the sound in the clip at this site? It can generally only be heard by people under the age of 25. It's pretty annoying. Apparently it has been used as a anti-loitering device to keep the teenagers away from shopping malls.
